#BeyGood PHOENIX OTR II SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT

On Wednesday, September 19, one young woman’s dream of attending a four-year college or university became very real. During DJ Khaled’s set, he paused to recognize the members of the local Boys and Girls Club of Phoenix. Among the teens was 17-year-old Mikayla Lowry, who came to the OTRI I Tour stop to see Beyoncé and JAY-Z electrify the crowd as they have been doing all summer. But pre-show, the spotlight turned to Mikayla as she became the newest recipient of the OTR II Scholarship that would assure her enrollment to a four-year college or university in 2019. It was a celebration of her hard work that earned her a 3.7 GPA as a current high school senior at Trevor G. Browne High School in Phoenix. Mikayla has been a member of the Club for 11 years and has been actively involved in Club activities throughout that time. She was the 2012 Kid of the Year and has most recently been named the Stewart Club's 2019 Youth of the Year. Mikayla has already been attending Estrella Mountain Community College through her participation with the ACE Program since her sophomore year. Her goal is to graduate high school having already obtained her Associate's Degree. She will then transfer to either Grand Canyon University or Northern Arizona University, where she will pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Forensics or Marine Biology. She is the first in her family to attend college. See her reaction to receiving the scholarship below!
